The Gylds Pledge
Version 5.0 · Last updated TBC
Draft — pending completion and solicitor sign-off
Gylds is a confidential space where professionals share experience and compare practice with their peers. It works only if everyone can trust it. This Pledge sets out the principles every Member signs up to, and the most important points of our Terms of Service, in plain English. It forms part of your agreement with Gylds Limited. The Terms of Service give the full detail, and our Privacy Policy explains how we use your data.
If you are joining on behalf of an organisation, "I" and "my" include that organisation.
Part 1 — Our principles
1. Confidentiality — what is shared on Gylds stays on Gylds
- I will not share, forward, screenshot or otherwise take anything from Gylds outside it, unless its visibility settings allow this or the law requires it.
- I will respect my own duties of confidentiality to my employer, clients, patients and regulators. I will not post confidential information, trade secrets or inside information that I am not free to share.
2. Fair competition — benchmarking, never coordinating
- I will not share or ask for competitively sensitive information, such as an organisation's non-public prices, fees, pay plans, bids or strategy, except in answer to a Study designed to collect it safely.
- I will not use Gylds to agree or coordinate anything with competitors, including on pay, prices or hiring. If a discussion strays into this, I will stop and report it.
3. Appropriate behaviour — professional, lawful and relevant
- I will keep what I post professional, lawful, accurate and on-topic. I will not post anything defamatory, discriminatory, misleading, promotional or spam.
- If AI has materially helped me write something, I will say so.
4. Respect — challenge ideas, not people
- I will treat everyone with courtesy and disagree respectfully. I will never harass, bully, intimidate or discriminate against anyone, or share anyone's private details.
5. Privacy — protect people, including yourself
- I will not post personal information about identifiable people, whether clients, colleagues, patients or anyone else, and I will anonymise my examples.
- I will not post sensitive information, such as health information, about anyone, including myself.
- I will not try to identify anyone who contributes without their name, or anyone behind an Insight.
6. Intellectual property — respect ownership
- I will only share material I have the right to share, and I will credit other people's work.
- I will not reuse Gylds content or Insights outside Gylds without permission, or present them as my own research or work.
7. Genuine representation — be who you say you are
- I am a genuine professional, my profile is accurate and current, and I will use only one account.
- My answers to Studies will be truthful and based on my own knowledge. Where I describe my organisation's practice, I will describe it fairly, and only if I am free to share it.
- My views are my own, not my employer's, unless I am authorised to speak for it.
8. No conflicts of interest — declare, don't sell
- If I have a commercial or personal interest in a topic, I will declare it.
- I will not use Gylds to sell, recruit or promote, or to steer discussions or Study results for my own or my employer's benefit.
Part 2 — What you should know
What you will find on Gylds. Members' personal views and experiences, and Insights: aggregated results, summaries and trends that we produce, some with the help of AI. Everything is for information and professional discussion only.
It is not advice. Nothing on Gylds is professional advice of any kind, whether legal, financial, investment, tax, pay, medical or otherwise. Nor is it a financial promotion or a recommendation to buy or sell anything, and Gylds is not a regulated adviser. Do not rely on anything on Gylds when making decisions; take your own advice. Neither we nor other Members are responsible for decisions you make based on it.
We do not check what Members post. Content may be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and AI outputs can contain errors.
Anonymity has limits.
- Your Study responses are shown to others only as aggregated Insights, designed so that no individual or organisation can be identified.
- Posts, comments and messages may show your name, depending on where you post, so check before you post.
- Gylds can see who contributed what, and may have to disclose it, for example if a court orders us to.
Never post anything you could not defend if it were attributed to you.
Your content and our Insights. You own what you post. You give us a licence to use it to run Gylds and to create Insights. Insights belong to us, and we may share or publish them in a form that identifies no one.
Your data. We use your data to run Gylds and to create Insights, and we do not sell your personal data. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, although we may need to keep some records for a time. Necessary cookies are always on; we use any others only with your consent.
Moderation. If the Terms are broken, we may hide or remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts. We will normally tell you why, and you can challenge our decision.
Organisations. If you join through an organisation, you accept these terms personally. The organisation cannot accept them for you, and it will not see your individual Study responses. If you join on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it.
Our responsibility. We are not responsible for other Members' content, or for losses caused by relying on anything on Gylds, and our liability is limited as set out in the Terms. Nothing limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer.
Changes and disputes. We will tell you in advance about important changes to these terms and ask you to accept them. If something goes wrong, talk to us first. English law applies, but if you are a consumer you keep the protections of the country where you live.
Part 3 — Extra rules for Health Circles
These rules apply in any Circle we mark as a Health Circle.
- I will never post information that could identify a patient, directly or indirectly. I will fully anonymise any case discussion, in line with my clinical and professional duties of confidentiality.
- I will not upload patient images, scans, test results or documents.
- I understand that nothing in a Health Circle is medical advice or a substitute for clinical judgement.
Your confirmation
☐ I have read and agree to the Gylds Pledge and the Terms of Service, and I have read the Privacy Policy. I confirm that I am 18 or over and a professional in my field. If I am joining on behalf of an organisation, I confirm that I am authorised to bind it.
